This is a poem about vegetables I wrote spontaneously in order to make a friend laugh. It actually turned out better than expected, so here it is.
O faithful onion, my allium friend, Layers of perfection and heart so tend.
My tapered root and orange so stark, Eaten daily, you reveal us the dark.
O starch of the earth, how could we forget, Your knobbled skin and flesh perfect,
Boiled, mashed, roasted or fried, In every form, our hearts confide.
Mon petit pois, how I adore thee, Frozen or fresh, the humble pea.
And broccoli, broccoli, how are you so green? Broccoli, broccoli, the fractal of my dream.
